silence

mother was swallowed by sharks –
she had bent down to pick up seashells for me,
on the river shore:
first her hair,
then her eyes,
then her mouth.
now all mother’s words
are being carried on water,
while mother is silent,
like a fish.

 

 

About the Poet:
Diana Radovan is a multilingual writer, writing coach, a Story is a State of Mind teacher and ambassador, and the founder of the group Creative Writing in Munich. Most recently she has co-authored the collaborative book Munich Stories 2016. Her poetry, fiction, and non-fiction has won several awards over the years and has been published in numerous magazines and anthologies since 2004. She also works as a medical writer. In a previous life, she was a wet lab scientist and holds a PhD in Chemistry. Currently she lives in Munich, Germany.
