Glass Jar World – A Poem by Lillian Hallberg

Glass Jar World

I am afloat
no eyes, no touch
in this senseless
cadaverous world.
Dreams dissipated,
vapid despair.
I am afloat
gasping
in this fragile world.
A glass shard,
in your no-touch world.

Two Poems by Lillian Hallberg

Poem One:

Sea Glass

Shades of green, amber, milky white
smooth, mysterious bits of tumbled glass.
Whose hands held you to their lips?
Touched where? A long time ago.

Poem Two:

Recluse

Dune shack dweller these many years
she fancied herself a Crustacean
sliding through life sidewise.

Lavender Days – A Poem by Lillian Hallberg

Lavender Days

It was a summer of letters.

You there, me here.
The days of thinking slowly,
rolling words around
until they landed just right.

The days of ink to vellum
blotter dabbing splotches,
hand heavy with emotion
or tear drops of missing.

Sometimes our words crossed
like the wind shifting,
dropping seeds too early
for rooting or delectable feast.

They rest now on the top shelf
bundled amidst paling ribbons
dried wisps of lavender
and receding memories.
