Poetry Breakfast

Beginning March 20th, 2016 Poetry Breakfast will once again serve a little poetic nourishment every morning. Start your day with our new expanded menu. Poems, of course, are our specialty. But we will also be serving a fuller menu that includes poetry related creative non-fiction such as letters to and from poets, essays on poetry, and anything else that might feed a poet and poetry lover’s soul.

Another Friend’s Grave
by Anna Stuart

Experience matters little.

Having traveled here before
does nothing to ease the sorrow.

Losing love loses nothing in numbers.

The heart’s comfort is only
the knowing you have company
in where you are going.

Tonight’s Argument by Anna Stuart

Tonight’ s Argument
by Anna Stuart

It is a brazen word you carve
into the air tonight.

Your vocabulary abruptly
shatters all my arguments.

I lose my strong hold
of stubborn justifications.

“I love you no matter what.”
flies across the room

hitting me harder than
I ever dreamed any words would.

I surrender knowing I lost the argument
but still have won you.
