So, here we go again. It’s round three of Poetry Breakfast on hiatus.
Submissions are indefinitely closed.
Our last poem will be served on October 17th, 2024
This summer I made more mistakes in the posts of poems than in the previous twelve years of Poetry Breakfast’s existence. I sincerely apologize to all the poets who needed to message me about the errors.
Even more frightening was what you didn’t see go wrong…Somehow…I still haven’t figured out how this happened…over 80 poetry submissions instantaneously disappeared from my inbox. Yup, all the submissions – poof – gone!
This was followed by about two hours of utter panic boarding on a heart attack…until I discovered they’d all jumped into the “response sent” folder. What a relief!
And after about five hours of hunting down all the unreplied to submissions, luckily everything was back in its place…all submissions then getting the attention they needed.
Why do I tell you this? Well, you all send your best work for consideration. It’s my job to do my best in publishing your creations. Clearly, the best has not been happening lately.
So, I’ve decided it is time to step back, put Poetry Breakfast on hiatus, and return again someday when I can give the poets and journal the detailed attention it deserves.
Poets, I wish you all the best in finding homes for your work in the many beautiful journals that are out there.
Readers, I trust you will find some of those amazing journals and fill your morning inbox with the nourishing words they publish.
Best wishes to all,
Kay

I only recently discovered Poetry Breakfast and have so enjoyed all of the poems that come my way and appreciate so much your choosing to publish two of mine. I understand totally your need and desire for a break and a rest from this work. Wishing you the very best and hoping that you may find your way back to publishing poems if/when it works for you in the future. With blessings.

Bless your heart. This is humanness. I have enjoyed the poems. Thank you for owning the problem. You are a grownup. We poets will survive any struggle a journal or magazine has. I hope this journal will find a way to survive, too.

Hard to click the “Like” button on this, Kay. I did, but I don’t.
Thanks for publishing my work (7 pieces over the past 12 years!) and for publishing all the other fine work that helps me get my day started. I’m going to stay subscribed and hope to hear you’re back up and running. The Online Poets’ Universe needs a good breakfast to get their day started.
