The Evening Floats In
By Jamie Collins
The evening floats in—
on dark clouds
and thunderstorms
when no one’s looking—
the darkness creeps in
and the sun sets in silence
there’s no announcement
no trumpet sounds—
the sun just disappears
out of sight — out of mind—
fades away—in the night—
and I feel safe in your arms.
