Ruminating

I take a hammer to it:
my lifestyle

a giant rock
into bite-sized pieces,

for every choice
there is a sacrifice.

I throw them in
my mouth in pairs,

taste their flavours compete
over my flattened tongue.

I crunch; chew them over
until there is nothing left

but my broken teeth still
grinding against each other.
