New Word
A poem by Marietta Calvanico

New Word
for myself as much as it is for K

Perfection is overrated
worshipped from a distance
it is just another false god

Much advice comes unbidden
and too much talk of potential
plainly bores me
my good intentions scatter like roaches

I, too, search for purpose
which presently eludes me daily
and I ask you:
Why is the past so important anyway?
Sometimes it is a bad detour
waiting to push you backward

Take what I have found
share it with me
I give you:
Possibilities
