Celebration
A poem by Anuradha Vijayakrishnan
Celebration
There is a murmur in the lantana bushes
Bees rise in golden clouds from clumps of sturdy basil
A silver gecko scampers across the gate
Every drop of light gifted to this land
has gathered in our courtyard wearing diamonds
Curtains swish up like young ghosts rushing to a séance
Windows shimmer coyly nudging each other
bouncing to the lilting wind
And the doors suddenly burst wide open
Spring, or summer, is here.
