What My Friends Say
A poem by Carolyn Chilton Casas

What My Friends Say
—after “Limitless” by Danna Faulds

Creeks say, find your own way,
no matter the dams constructed
attempting to steer your course.
You alone know
where you are heading.
Tree says, life is long,
don’t forget your roots
while reaching for the sky.
Moon says, I’m here,
lighting your way
even on the darkest of nights.
Sun says, you can count on me
to always return.
Rain says, there’ll be eternal growth,
green shoots in spring
leading to summer’s harvest.
Life says, you came to this place
with a chosen purpose.
We’ll help you remember
what that is.
Try to relax, to enjoy,
not to take everything so seriously.
All of this is for you.
