Whale Song
A poem by Marietta Calvanico
Whale Song
Your undulating sound cuts through
briny sea air,
salt, turned sweet
it washes over me, a blessing,
Your forgiveness,
in a language I can’t understand,
blocked by my human deficit,
You are on another plane.
We dare to encroach upon
this vastness, yours
We, morally bankrupt,
without thought, foul your realm,
Still, your ancient sounds reach forward
Please sing for us—
We are too foolish
to sing for ourselves.

Really loved this poem. Where can I find more of your words? Whales have wisdom, grace and mystery. That comes across in your piece.
