I Got Lots Of Stuff
A poem by Chris Kleinfelter

I Got Lots Of Stuff

What about this stuff all around me
will make my day any better?
If I am drowning in plenty
would I be rescued
by one of the many?

I remember the rambling days
when home was on my back.
I could get anything by opening a flap.
As long I had it to get.
If I didn’t I wouldn’t fret.

Sometimes I worked hard.
Sometimes people were kind.
I didn’t mind when money was low
because what was given before
had a way of finding my door
and economy was practiced in a circle
taking the same route as love.

The thing I remember best from my youth
is the easy way that food and friendship flowed.
In the world we hoped to build
wanting was not a problem to be solved
if we could just remember
abundance is most useful
when it is shared.
