Some Thoughts on Shining
A poem by Taya Sanderson Kesslau
Some Thoughts on Shining
Sometimes there is a deep need
for something lovely
for warmth, luminosity.
Holding to the small spaces
isn’t the way.
Instead, look to the teachers
the sun, our stars,
the little finch that sings her song
without insecurity or concern
for what the others might think.
No! She trills her melody
the whole afternoon long
in the branches of the birch
which is steady beneath her tiny bird feet.
Emanating sound
light in waves
through a sea
of clear sweet air.

hello Taya
this a lovely poem! I relate to the clear singing freedom of the bird trilling
a little humorous occurrence since my name is included
I wish I has written this lovely poem.
but it is yours and it is a joy to read.
Warmly
Teya
