An Extra Hour
A poem by Madlynn Haber
An Extra Hour
Give me an extra hour
I promise not to squander it
I’ll follow a fox down a path into the forest with longing
I’ll dance in the dark dressed as a bear
Give me that extra hour to wait for the first rays of sun
to say goodbye to the night shift as they leave
and greet the morning cleaners one last time
I will savor the spare hour
use it to hold a cold hand, capture a fleeting vision
leave food on the doorstep of the hungry
In its last seconds, I will stare from a window
at a quiet landscape blowing wild in the wind

wonderful poem! I love the concept of how one hour can encompass so much.
