Coffee Flavored Form
A poem by Laura Daniels

Coffee Flavored Form

I bring my laptop
sit at the same table
wave to the regulars
eyeball the newbies
watch people, and
overhear conversations

snippets of inspiration
add flavor to my form:
I was reading a book
about the origin of cappuccino
but it was all froth and no substance

vignette offerings
from strangers

sometimes innocent exhibitions
create movement in my composition:
a young dad sharing a hot chocolate with his daughter
“Yeah, this is yummy in my tummy,” the dad says
as he gently wipes the chocolate off her nose

all the musings
create all the verse
