The Best

a white haired
woman in blue
sweats slowly
jogs determinedly
up the sidewalk
as morning
cars pass by

plastic bag rolls
end over end
across the noon
median until
run down

set back

then onward again

a sky full
of afternoon
clouds drift

above the

like whipped cream
on hot chocolate

but the best thing
is to stick my body

through an open
passenger side

just to kiss

my lady goodbye
for a few seconds
