Beat of the Soul

I watch I wait I listen
For the sound of the heavens
Moving and spooling
Over the shadows of the universe

I watch I wait I listen
For the call of destiny
Watching and guiding
The movement of life

I watch
For signs of a beat
For signs of a thump
For signs of triumph

I listen
For the beat of a heart
For the beat of a mind
For the beat of a soul

Verily verily I say unto thee
The soul of man starts with nothing
But a beat
