Before Leaving Ireland, Summer of 2015
He’s the only one for me, Jolene.” -Dolly Parton, “Jolene”
We always saw morning,
early hours, but never sun rise,
and yet I’ve woken to this palette every day
aware and forgiven
my spirit still screaming,
and the sky here wears my bruises,
Jolene.
