Kintsugi (join with gold)
A poem by Marietta Calvanico
Kintsugi (join with gold)
For Charlott and Fitzgerald on their 50 th anniversary
We started out
pondering possibilities
for life, for love
and a dream took off
in a gold 914
Sure, we have had
broken places
but we bowed
to the Japanese art of Kintsugi—
we are stronger, more beautiful
What comes next
is what came first
avowal, devotion
unknown days to travel
a dream still in flight
