Floral Arrangement
A poem by Joe Bisicchia
Floral Arrangement
Like a small boat upon Lake Lucerne,
we float on the mirrored moonlight.
Maybe a piano plays in the distance.
Maybe all of earth is in the distance.
Buoyant our boat despite our strife.
We see the stars, and pocket them.
Maybe this is only us packaged
as we slowly drift this flowing life.
Surely, we have known better things.
And yet, life could be all an abyss,
if not for one flower, a night like this
white upon the water enough to sense
our days as a summer bouquet, ever
light, despite any burden of heaviness,
our lives as planned here together
as we hold our sole tulip, and kiss.
This is our florescence.
All of forever is not far in distance.
But here.
Wherever this is, we are.

Joe – I have no idea where Lake Lucerne is but your poem puts me squarely upon it in that small boat joining you for the ride, “buoyant, despite our strife.”
It is a wonderful piece.
